Slow down in the parking lot

Today I was sitting in my car in the parking lot of the grocery store while my husband bravely went into procure some groceries. A woman almost hit me head on because she was driving so fast and so aggressively into the parking lot and ultimately the parking space. It really made me wonder that in a time when there really isn’t much of anywhere to go or anywhere to be why so fast? And ok, yeah sure, she may have had a true emergency blah blah blah but for purposes of this blog let’s pretend she was just going really fast. 😊
It got me thinking about slowing down. In an effort to find the upside of the time we are living in; we’ve been reflecting on how the stay-at-home orders have forced us to slow down. But have we?
Take yesterday for example. I got up and ate breakfast. There were 5 or 6 things I wanted to accomplish, and I had all day to do them. By the way, in reality none of them HAD to be done this particular day or all on the same day; my mind just said they did.
Well you would have thought there was a prize for first place. Once the last cheerio had cleared the bowl and the OJ was gone from the glass I was off to the races.
Laundry
Plan meals for week after next, make list, place online Order
Mediation (do you see the irony in this one?)
Vacuum upstairs
Spot clean carpet
Clean out linen closet
There was so much unnecessary pressure I put on myself to get it done and get it done FAST.
I was so busy racing through my “to do” list I was too tired to truly rest once the chores were done. And that my friends is the moral of this story. We are doing a lot of talking about slowing down but are we?
One way to keep your energetic vibration high is rest. Rest means quiet time, down time, sleep, doing nothing, meditation, reflection, and anything else where you are rejuvenating your mind, spirit and body. If you are like me, this is one of the hardest things to do. However, I can tell you from personal experience it has made a huge difference in my life. I resisted mediation for years and decided the stay-at-home order was a good time to start. Each day I take 20 minutes to go into a room and lay down or sit in a chair and I am quiet. I may do a guided mediation, I may read an inspirational book, I may take a nap or I may just sit there and look at the beautiful trees outside my window. Regardless of what I do I’ve slowed down and I’m quiet. This practice has had a huge impact on my ability to keep my energy high with the onslaught of negative information that comes at us each day. If you want other ideas on how to slow down and rest to raise your vibration please reach out, we’d be happy to talk with you.
Don’t zoom through the parking lot of life----take it slow and easy!
